Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court after March of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent reactions on court had led some to question if his ability to play at the highest level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

Moutet defended four early-game break points in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he secured victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
